Taiwanese-based green beauty brand O’right recently announced that 37 products and 2 ingredients including our breakthrough natural caffeine, goji berry root (both of which have been certified to the COSMOS standard) and best seller O’right Caffeine Botanical Scalp Revitalizer have earned USDA certification and the approval to display the USDA Certified Biobased Product Label, which verifies that a product’s amount of renewable biobased ingredients meets or exceeds the levels set by the USDA. This marks the first time O’right publicly disclosures the percentage of biobased content in each product through a federally administered and run label to achieve competitive advantage in the international market. The USDA Certified Biobased Product Label was also one of the key communication points at COP25, where O’right Chairman Steven Ko shared his perspectives and achievements in sustainability on the global stage.
The USDA Certified Biobased Product Label focuses on the biobased content of the product. Biobased content is third-party certified and strictly monitored by USDA and determined using the accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS). Certified products and ingredients must contain minimum levels of biobased content set forth by the USDA and verified by the ASTM D6866 test standard. This product certification and labeling program was initiated by USDA to encourage the identification and use of natural, biobased ingredients and products to reduce environmental impact and maintain ecological balance.
